TOEFL, stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language, this test is designed and administered by Educational Testing System (ETS), USA. TOEFL is second most accepted English test by many academic institutions around the world as a proof of proficiency in English language but most popular among American and Canadian academic institutions. TOEFL is conducted through both the mode, Internet- based Test (IBT) and paper-based test. TOEFL assesses English skills of a candidate in four sections of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, each section has maximum 30 points and the scaled scores from all the four sections are added together to determine the total score out of 120. TOEFL score report is valid for latest of two years. As an entry requirement, each institute sets its own minimum TOEFL score to consider proficiency in English language.
PTE, stands for Pearson Language Tests which is conducted by Pearson PLC . PTE score report is third largest most accepted test to consider English proficiency of a student to accept in academic institutions. PTE assesses English skills of a candidate in three sections Speaking & Writing, Reading and Listening, each section has maximum 30 points and score report comes with total score out of 90 points. PTE is a computer- Based test and more focuses on real-life English used in academic structure. Score report of PTE is also valid for latest of two years. PTE has been gaining popularity very fast, getting acceptance by great academic institutions around the world, PTE has been endorsed by Graduate Management Admission Council and also been aligned to the levels defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) .
